In an ODM arrangement, the buyer provides product requirements (type, target market, price point), and the manufacturer proposes packaging designs, materials, and specifications. The buyer selects from options and approves the final design. The manufacturer retains the design IP unless otherwise negotiated.
ODM is right for: startups and brands without in-house packaging expertise, companies entering new product categories, situations where speed to market is more important than design uniqueness, and brands that want creative input from someone who knows what works in tube packaging.
