Shuttlecock manufacturers classify products into four tiers. Understanding this system is essential for OEM pricing and brand positioning:

What "Tournament Grade" Actually Means
The term "tournament grade" is not regulated. Any brand can print it on their tube. BWF approval is the only objective standard — BWF tests flight, speed, and durability in accredited labs. If your OEM supplier claims "tournament grade," ask for the BWF certificate number. BWF-approved shuttlecocks represent less than 5% of global production; the vast majority of "tournament grade" marketing is aspirational.
How to Choose the Right Grade for Your Brand
Match your grade to your distribution channel, not your ambition. If you're selling through pro shops, Match (AA) is the minimum — these buyers will test your product against established brands. If you're selling through general sports retailers or e-commerce, Club (A) or Club+ (slightly higher quality within the A tier) is sufficient. Training (B) grade works for school and institutional channels where price is the primary purchase driver.
